John has been a member at Harborne GC for 12 years and was elected President in Nov 2010 having spent the previous 3 years as chairman of Membership. He was brought up in Bearwood studying at St Phillip’s Grammar School, lives locally at Warley Woods and has 3 grown up children. He enjoys most sports and was a keen footballer in his earlier years. He is a passionate supporter of Aston Villa along with his wife Val. He is also a trustee of a small charity set up 10 years ago. |
Tim has been a member of Harborne Golf Club since 2003 and was elected Captain in November 2011. Tim previously served on both the Greens & Membership Committees for 2 years. Residing locally in Cradley Heath he has been happily married to his wife Dee for 30 years and they have a son, 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. A career within the Armed Forces has served Tim well and during his 32 years service he has seen action across the World. He is currently employed to recruit the future Men and Woman of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines. A very keen golfer who has represented Harborne Golf Club in most of the club's teams. Keen to get his handicap lower than 5 he can normally be found 'hogging' the practice area. I feel it is a great honour and privilege at being given the opportunity to be your Captain; a once in a lifetime opportunity, to wear the jacket with pride and remember the experience for the rest of his life. |
Helen joined Harborne Golf Club in 1985 and was the first Lady Captain to be elected at the AGM in November 2011 following recent changes in Equality Laws. Helen is now in her fourth year on committee, was Chair of Membership in 2010/11 and is also a member of the Finance and Greens Committees. Helen was born in Leeds but has spent the last 30 years living in the Birmingham area and now lives in Harborne with husband, Patrick Palmer. She is a Chartered Accountant and has worked as Finance Director of four different companies in the West Midlands. For the last 5 years, Helen has been working as a sole practitioner, working from home. Helen is also a keen golfer with a current handicap of 16, she has been Ladies' Club Champion twice (1999 and 2000), represented the club in most of the ladies' teams and is hoping to reduce her handicap to her previous best of 11. Proud to be a member of Harborne Golf Club, Helen is committed to maintaining the Club's core values as well as being an ambassador for the Club and in particular for the Ladies' Section. |
