Lady Captains Dinner 2015

The Lady Captain’s Dinner, for Linda Jordan’s last year of office, was a great success this week with over fifty ladies attending the three course dinner and presentation.  The scene was set with beautifully laid tables adorned with flower arrangements prepared by Doreen Green and wine, courtesy of the Lady Captain.

There were members old and new and as always the ladies were dressed to impress.  Dinner was a summer carvery but also featured the ever popular quiche made by Jean and some strawberry tarts that looked ‘to die for’.   Entertainment was provided by Val Orton (and her assistant, Neville) in the form of a quiz on food and drink that proved highly competitive and half of the tables tied for first place giving way to lots of high spirited banter.

It was then the turn of the Lady Captain to take the floor and amongst her address she made everyone feel very welcome especially all the new lady members as she regaled some of her own toe curling experiences as a newbie at HGC.  Presentations followed with Linda giving out beautiful Gerbera Daisies as a thank you to all the ladies that have assisted her in the last year including Judith Hinton, B Team Captain who then stood to tell us about her day.

After accompanying Linda in seeing everyone off the tee that morning to begin their Waltz around the course, Judith, with some help from Stuart and young Lewis, had organised a special event on the simulator for all the ladies who no longer play.  They were taken to the 7th hole of the Royal Berkdale which is a par 3 for their own mini competition and from all accounts had a fantastic time with Margaret Mackenzie and Daphne Barker being the winners!

Various prizes were then given out but the big, big winners of the day went to Hayley Davies, Megan Wood and, new girl on the block, Ginny Clifford for having scored a massive 74 points.

The proceedings finally came to an end after Shaunagh took to the floor on behalf of the ladies thanking both Linda and Judith for the great day.
