Stephen cox,  President

Stephen was born in Edgbaston and has lived in Quinton & Halesowen all of his life, and continues to do so with his wife Natalie. He has two daughters, Helen is currently studying a teaching degree whilst Emma is at UCB studying Hair & Beauty but also part time working for Harborne GC. Educated locally at Perryfields High school he then went on to study Architecture, qualifying in 1992. He has been a Partner of Gould Singleton Architects for almost 15 years and enjoys working on a wide variety of projects all over the UK.

One of Stephen’s other major passions is following West Bromwich Albion and has been a season ticket holder since 1978, when he started going to the Hawthorns with his late Father. For many years he also swam for both Orion & Haden Hill swimming clubs and participated in swimming events all over the Country.

In 2005 he joined Harborne golf club and thoroughly enjoyed participating in both golf and many social events. He served as B team Captain during 2007/8 and then stood for Committee where he has served ever since in both the roles of House Chairman and Membership Chairman, he was elected as Vice President in 2013.  He is immensely proud of being a member of Harborne GC and wishes to spread the word of what a ‘Warm and welcoming’ club that we have.

David Higson,  Captain

David Higson was born and educated in Manchester and after completing a degree joined the RAF. He was commissioned in1972 and was promoted to the rank of Wing Commander before leaving in 1988. He then came to work in a firm of solicitors in the Black Country staying for almost 20 years before retiring as Chief Executive. Since retirement he worked for a short time as the part time Secretary for a local Golf Club, and acted as Chair of the Midlands Area of Variety Club and as the local treasurer for SSAFA in the charitable field. He has also played a lot of golf and like the President is a season ticket holder at West Bromwich Albion

David and Margaret married in 1970 and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren, with part of the family living in Australia. Whilst in the RAF they lived in many areas of the U.K. and also spent 3 years in Cyprus; on leaving they moved to Halesowen and moved to their current property in Hartlebury in 1998.

David joined Harborne Golf Club in February 1989 and has spent time on the Committee on two occasions including acting as Chairman of Greens and House. He was B Team Captain in the late 1990s and was President from 2000 to 2002.

PAT MELLARD,  Lady Captain

Pat was born in Stourbridge and has lived most of her life in Halesowen. She went to school in Cradley and then to Halesowen College. From there she spent three years in Teacher Training at C F Mott College, Prescott, Liverpool, she worked for Birmingham Education Authority for thirty-seven years teaching Geography and History.

Pat has been a member of Harborne Golf Club since 1996 and when she retired in 2010 she was invited to join the Ladies Committee. She became Opens' Organiser from 2011 - 2014 and last year she became Lady Captain Elect. She was also elected on to the Main Committee.  She has also been involved in arranging Inter-Club matches and the Winter Mixed.  During  Ladies County Week she was Hostess for Northamptonshire.

She has one son, Chris who has been a club member and worked for Harborne Golf Club. She also has two step daughters, Julia who lives in Derby with three boys and Sally who lives locally and has a daughter. Pat' s mother also lives in Halesowen.

Her other interests include playing bridge and flower arranging.
