key people

JOhn Rattlidge,  President

A Harborne kid, I originally joined this great club in 1977/78 as a junior, a privileged childhood, son of active members Roy and Maureen and brother of Yvonne a junior county player.

Golf having taught the lesson of humility many times over the last few years, I am glad to say it is now shared with my amazing wife, Jennie; a recent convert to the game.

A club in itself is nothing without its people, thus making Harborne Golf Club tremendously enjoyable and part of my soul.

Nick Clifford,  Captain

Eldest son to Peter and Wendy Clifford, husband to Ginny and father to Joshua and Thea. Born and raised within the Harborne Village from 1967 to present day.

Senior school educated at Handsworth Grammar School where my overall learning and education was hampered by too much sport as i received school honours for football, cricket, swimming and golf. I left school and whilst enjoying the ‘home comforts’ I parked university and went straight in to the exotic world of UK General Insurance where I remain working with my brother to this very day.

As for the game of golf, this started in the back garden with my father a great teacher, I joined Harborne Golf Club at the age of 10 and became a low single figure golfer early into my teens. Along the way I’ve been lucky enough to win many club trophies including the Club Championship whilst also representing the Warwickshire County over many years at various levels. Over the last 40 years I’ve played with many great characters, won and lost some great games but I’ve loved every minute of it and to Harborne Golf Club I thank you.

Golf and Harborne Golf Club have been a huge part of my life for over 40 years and I’m both honoured and privileged to occupy the position of Club Captain in the Club’s 125th year. It’s a great Club with a loyal and trusted membership that understand what it is to be a member of a Private Golf Club as well as knowledgeable staff all pulling in the same direction.

The course more than matches those in the Midlands area and continues to hold County events on a regular basis and is a match for all that play it.

Remenber, it’s a hobby, let’s enjoy it and have FUN whether your games good or bad.
