Wednesday 30th September saw the second Ladies Club Open of 2015.
The weather was considerably more promising than it had been for the May Open and, happily, that promise was also fulfilled although it was wet underfoot for the 9.20 starters and was getting distinctly chilly as the last team were finishing just before 6pm
All teams turned up, some having arranged for their own substitutes at short notice
A good day followed for most, if not all 81 players who competed
The format was, as usual, 2 to count with all 3 at our 3 Par 3s
As now shown on the website, the 3 main prizes went to:
Winners: Val Orton, Rahela Gordon & Katy Hannan with 85 points
Second: Margaret Wood, Margaret Archer & Mary Lightfoot with 83 points
Third: Lynn Waites, Hayley Davies & Sharon Butler with 81 points
Fourth were Thelma Lilley, Ginny Clifford & Clare Lucey also with 81 points (countback)
Fifth were Yen Pham, Jo Danks & Sharon McIntosh also with 81 points (countback)
The winners of the Hidden Holes prize that had first raised interest at the May Open were
Morag Angus, Julie Tsang & Andrea Dudden who scored an amazing 23 points at the 2nd, 6th, 10th & 11th holes. The hidden holes were picked by various stalwarts regularly seen in and around the clubhouse and this time we did not need a countback to separate the prizes
Nearest the pin at the 3rd was Fay Goodenough while Sue Draper was nearest at the 6th.
The raffle was in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital, Let us Play Appeal. The request for prizes brought a tremendous response from members and we raised £230.
Many thanks are due to the many volunteers who helped in various roles, many of which seemed to evolve throughout the day.
All that remains is to ensure things run at least as smoothly for the next Open. The date for which will be set shortly.
