Club Night

HGC saw a vibrant Club Night atmosphere last night with lots of members making the most of the last rays of sunshine on the course.  The dash to get in before the draw is now finally becoming a little easier as the darker nights draw in, although Helen Palmer and Kath Terry had a bigger dash than most as they’d played at Blakedown and had about twenty minutes, I think Helen said.   They did manage it with only minutes to spare but they needn’t have rushed as the winner this week of £275 was Lee Williams who, you’ve guessed it, was out of the room.  The Captain did let slip that Lee had actually been up the Club the night before.  What a shame!  That means our new jackpot for next week is £300.  Can you bear not to be there!

The draw was followed by the 200 Club Draw and the winner of £70 was, in fact, my hubby, John Rattlidge  which caused a bit of banter within the room especially after winning the raffle a couple of weeks ago.  Peter Savage won £30 and the Seniors Captain, Dave Orchard, won £20.  Congratulations to all the winners.

The raffle this week stood at £230 and, for the first time ever, it seems, whoever bought the salmon pink ticket No 806 had left.  For a short while, the Club house was the quietest I had seen it with everyone double checking their tickets and scanning the room to see if anyone would come forward but they didn’t.   The Captain took the bold decision to say the ticket will stay valid until next Thursday and if it hasn’t been claimed by then it will be added to the raffle prize next week meaning next week is potentially set to be a bumper week, moneywise.

Don’t forget Pat and her girls do some great food Thursday night and the menu for next week is a winter carvery together with delicious starters and desserts for £8.50 for two courses and £11 for three.  Please book with Pat to secure a table.
